How often
Once a year. ADOR calls it its "annual public auction"; the 2026 sale was in February.

ADOR auctions items from abandoned safe-deposit boxes once a year. The Feb 2026 sale ran online only at Sierra Auction Management, with one in-person viewing day in Phoenix. Proceeds go to a custodial account where owners can still claim them.

Before it's sold

Check whether an item is yours first

If you or a relative had a safe-deposit box in Arizona, search ADOR's unclaimed property search and claim page ↗ before the sale. Claims are free, and you don't need to pay a finder. MissingMoney.com ↗ searches many states at once.

If an item has already been sold, the proceeds are usually held for the owner; check the state office above for its rules. How claiming works.
