Who runs it

Who runs Florida's unclaimed property auction

State office
Florida Department of Financial Services (Chief Financial Officer), Division of Unclaimed Property ↗
Auctioneer / platform
Fisher Auction Company (live, in person) ↗
How often
Roughly once a year (per our state survey; the fact sheet itself doesn't say).

Florida's sale is a live, in-person auction, not online. Boxes come from banks after three years of unpaid rent; the Division holds the contents at least two more years before selling. Registration on site needs a refundable $100 cash deposit and a driver's license, and the Division posts a free catalog with photos of each lot.

If you or a relative had a safe-deposit box in Florida, search FLTreasureHunt.gov, Florida's official search ↗ before the sale. Claims are free, and you don't need to pay a finder. MissingMoney.com ↗ searches many states at once.

If an item has already been sold, the proceeds are usually held for the owner; check the state office above for its rules. How claiming works.
