Safe-deposit boxes
It can, but we haven't confirmed a dated state sale in 2025–26. Banks deliver unclaimed box contents to the Treasury, which checks the coins and paper money against the bank's inventory and secures the property in its vault. A state regulation (20 KAR 1:060) covers the reporting, safekeeping and liquidation of box contents.

Paid finders are legal in most cases but never required. Some states cap their fees and many require them to register, so check with the state office before you sign a finder's contract. NAUPA ↗
