Safe-deposit boxes
We couldn't verify it. Georgia's Department of Revenue runs the unclaimed property program and takes safe-deposit-box deliveries from banks (its FAQ gives an address for drill notices and a delivery schedule). The FAQ doesn't say whether box contents are ever auctioned.

Not yet verified: We found no Georgia page that describes an auction of box contents, and no state sale.

After a sale
The Georgia pages we read don't say what happens to the money after a sale. Ask Georgia Department of Revenue directly; its contact details are on the official site ↗.
